2 women recovering after July 4 barbecue explosion

EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) -

Two women in their 70s are recovering from burns after a backyard barbecue explosion.

Suffolk County police tell Newsday that a spray can under the grill may have exploded during the Fourth of July cookout in East Farmingdale.

It was not clear what was in the spray can.

The women are around 70 and 77 years old. They were taken Wednesday to Nassau University Medical Center.
