36th annual Macy’s Fireworks Show dazzles spectators

The fabulous Macy's Fireworks show over the Hudson River wrapped up with an awesome, colorful display.
40,000 shells, 30 different shapes and a ton of stars generated from the fireworks lit up the night time sky – and once again they didn't disappoint.
In the sky were falling lanterns, blue meteors, gold glitter, cascading chrysanthemums, swirling stars and plenty of ooh's and ahhs from the spectators.
Hours before the show even started, the crowds already gathered along the West Side Highway – including 4-year-old Eric Christopher and his family.
"I'm happy to be here, this is awesome," said Eric.
"I want to see all the colors, red, white and blue," Eric added.
The Christopher family had a prime spot because they showed up earlier this afternoon.
Earlier today, another family visiting from Houston, Texas talked about their anticipation of the fireworks display.
"Everything's bigger in Texas, so we want to see if it's bigger in New York."
It is.
The final preparations for this year's show started two weeks ago, but the overall preparations started a year ago.
So planning for next year's event will begin on Thursday.
