NEW YORK (AP) - The Fourth of July is being celebrated across the state of New York with parades, barbecues, tributes to the nation's founders and lots of fireworks.
From Saratoga National Historical Park to the village of Ticonderoga to Manhattan, the nation's birthday will be celebrated in ways big and small. The quietest tribute may occur in the tiny hamlet of Narrowsburg on the Pennsylvania border along the Delaware River. It has cancelled its plans for fireworks to protect the bald eagles that it proudly boasts make it the state's bald eagle capital.
As always, New York City will be home to a big and bright celebration. A year of preparations will culminate in the annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show in the skies above the Hudson River.
