Central Park raccoons

Rosey Richards recalls a recent day that turned scary at Rudin Playground on 96th Street and Central Park West.

A birthday celebration for the little girl she takes care of was interrupted when a raccoon crashed the pizza party.

"They was trying to get the pizza so we had to actually get the pizza and dump it in the dumpster," Rosey said.

Some people in central park told us daytime raccoon sightings have become commonplace at Rudin Playground. They say raccoons aren't shy about approaching people with food, and there have even been some reports of people feeding them.

A wildlife expert said that people should not be fooled by their cuddly appearance: they're wildlife and they are dangerous.
