A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after nearly drowning in a public pool Saturday night.

Police said the teen and his three friends climbed an eight-foot high fence securing the pool located at the Depew Park complex in Peekskill after hours. The kids probably went to the pool to cool off because of the hot temperatures.

The unidentified teen struggled in the water and need help. One of the other boys called 911 and another teen flagged down a passerby who pulled the struggling teen out of the water.

He was treated by EMS and taken to Hudson Valley Hospital and later taken by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center for more treatment.
