A plainclothes NYPD officer shot and critically wounded a carjacking suspect in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn Friday morning, the commissioner said.

It happened at about 11 a.m. on Weirfield Avenue near an auto repair business.

Video from SkyFoxHD showed a large area in front of Felix Bushwick Auto Repair that had been secured with police crime tape.

The shooting happened when two uniformed cops and the plainclothes officer responded to a call about a carjacking. When they pulled over the car, the suspect got out with a gun and tried to run away, police said.

The plainclothes cop shot the suspect once in the head during the foot chase, Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

The suspect has been hospitalized in critical condition.

The NYPD recoved a loaded revolver at the scene, the AP reported.
