Pit bull Dies One Day After Someone Set It On Fire

Posted: Updated:

One day after Animal Control Officers found Chloe, a pit bull someone set on fire, the dog died from the injuries. Someone tipped off Animal Control Officers that the dog was on Gray Street in the Germantown Section of the city. They took her to the Pennsylvania SPCA in Hunting Park Sunday.

"She's in a very critical state. The next couple days will be critical to her survival," said Wendy Marano with the PSPCA. That was Monday evening but later that night Chloe died.

Investigators say it was likely a group of people that intentionally doused the dog with an accelerant and set it on fire.  Chloe had extreme injuries all over her body, particularly to her face, ears, nose and extremities.

Investigators don't know why the dog was on Gray Street or how it got there. The owner doesn't live on the block. They don't think the owner had anything to do with it.

"They are cooperating with us. We do believe this was a group activity and the owners were probably not involved in it, " said Marano.

The PSPCA is offering a 500 dollar reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the people who did this.

Call 1-866-601-SPCA if you know anything.
