Rangel faces toughest primary in decades

MYFOXNY.COM -

The night before what is considered the most competitive race of his career, Rep. Charlie Rangel answered questions about his health, his ethics violations, and his chances for this primary.

His district, traditionally based in Harlem, has 100,000 new voters because of redistricting. It now extends from Harlem and into parts from the Bronx. Latinos now outnumber African Americans in the district. State Sen. Adriano Espillat is trying to woo those voters.

Were he elected, Espillat would the first Dominican-American in the Congress.

He hasn't been shy in his criticism of Rangel.

Also in the race is Clyde Williams, a former aide to President Clinton. He was endorsed by the New York Times and New York Daily News, but is not as well known in the district as his competitors are.
