Ductless air conditioning for your home

(WJBK) -

Older homes in the Detroit area may have problems keeping cool during hot summer months. Without having to tear out walls to feed ducts for a central air conditioning system, ductless air conditioners attach to a small portion of just about any wall and require no reconstruction.

The near-silent ductless air conditioner by Mitsubishi is called "Mr. Slim" because of its sleek, low profile design. The remote-controlled units can also provide heat in the winter months.

As an alternative to central air conditioning, ductless air conditioners cool individual rooms without having to cool the entire house.

Whether you have an outlying room or a room upstairs that doesn't heat or cool properly, a house can have up to three ductless units inside that connect to one condensed unit outside.

The two units shown in the video cost about $6,900 to install, but they can be a great solution to keeping your house comfortable.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
