The city's wheel boot program will reportedly begin by the end of the month in Brooklyn. The three-to-six month pilot program would eventually be rolled out citywide, according to the NY Daily News.
Under the program, city marshals would no longer tow vehicles that have more than $350 in unpaid fines but are legally parked, according to the NY Post.
The electronic boot can reportedly be removed by the vehicle owner with a secret code once the outstanding fines are paid.
A toll free number for motorists to call will be found on a notice place on the windshield, added the Post.

The van rear-ended a Taxi and Limousine Commission vehicle at the corner of Church Ave. and Utica Ave. at about 7:45 a.m., said police.
