A diverse crowd of New Yorkers marched down Fifth Avenue for the Annual Gay Pride Parade Sunday.

The festivities came on the same day anniversary for same-sex rights.

Tens of thousands of people from all over have came together to take pride in their Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) identity and the progress they've made.

The colorful extravaganza took over lower Fifth Avenue, turning the route to Christopher Street into a moving dance party.

There were prominent organizations with serious messages and poignant moments for those who finally feel there are more acceptances.

Mayor Bloomberg kicked off the parade saying it's a celebration with a serious message.

For openly gay City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, it's a milestone since Quinn and her partner were recently married.

A large contingent of newly married same sex couples marched to thank Governor Andrew Cuomo for signing the law that allowed them to legalize their relationships.

Before this street fair's over, there's another party getting underway on the pier.

Hundreds will continue to dance into the night.
