A Bronx school bus driver who was beaten into a coma after a minor traffic accident has died of his injuries Friday evening.

65-year-old Juan DelValle was taken off life support at 6:19 p.m. and died at St. Barnabas Hospital, according to an Atlantic Express Transportation Group spokeswoman.

DelValle worked for the company for eight years and he was getting ready to retire.

The 65-year-old grandfather was on his route when his bus swiped the side mirror on a double-parked car on June 11. Police said when he got out of the bus, the car's driver, 30-year-old Joey Scott, punched him twice knocking DelValle off his feet and hitting his head on the pavement.

Two middle-school students were on the bus at the time.

Scott has been charged with assault and remains in custody. He has been unable to post $250,000 cash bond and has a court date Monday.
