Power outages in portions of tristate

NEW YORK (AP) -

Con Edison, LIPA, PSE&G and other companies worked to restore power to thousands of customers in the tristate.

Con Ed reduced in several Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods on Friday while crews repaired equipment.

Utilities urged customers to reduce the strain on the grid during the day, which was the third straight day of temperatures in the 90s.

Then thunderstorms moved across the region, breaking the heat wave and knocking out power to thousands.

Some Long Island residents dealth with wild winds and flying debris.
