The extreme heat in New York has prompted the cancellation of all horse races at Belmont Park on Thursday.
The New York area is in the second day of a heat wave. The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for much of New York City and Long Island. It also issued the advisory for large parts of New Jersey and Connecticut.
Temperatures for Thursday were expected to be higher than Wednesday with heat values exceeding 100 degrees expected.
The heat was expected to continue on Friday before a break over the weekend.
