WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) -

A Connecticut man who was rescued from Long Island Sound during a triathlon last weekend has died.

Robert Hartline, 62, of Wallingford was competing in the swimming part of the Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon in Westport on Sunday when he began struggling in the water and was rescued by lifeguards. An obituary posted on the Yalesville Funeral Home website says Hartline died Monday at Norwalk Hospital.

The cause of death isn't clear.

Calling hours are set for Thursday evening at Yalesville Funeral Home in Wallingford. A funeral service will be held Friday morning at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wallingford, followed by burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden.

The obituary says Hartline was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and worked at Allegheny Steel for 30 years.
