SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A call made to police by Trayvon Martin's father to report him missing was released by authorities Wednesday.

Tracy Martin made the call at 8:39 a.m.; the morning after the teen was killed.  He told the dispatcher that his son has been missing since last night.  Trayvon had been dead for more than 12 hours at the time the call was made.

George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26 in the gated community where he served as a volunteer neighborhood watchman. Zimmerman claims the 17-year-old Martin punched him in the face and was bashing his head against the pavement when he fired his registered handgun in self-defense, striking Martin in the chest.

Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held in the Seminole County jail.
