The Hua Mei Bird Club follows the Chinese tradition of training birds to compete with their song.
The only one of its kind in the U.S., The Hua Mei Bird Garden is located in the Sara Delano Roosevelt Park area of Grand Street Park on the Lower East Side adjacent to Chrystie Street and south of Delancey.
Bird watchers can visit between about 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. seven days a week, with the most birds on display on Sundays.
