A woman was assaulted on Long Island after stopping to ask for directions late at night.

Nassau County Police say it happened on Merrick Road in Massapequa about 11:40 p.m. on Father's Day.

Detectives say the 33-year-old was lost and saw a man walking near Forest Ave.  She stopped to ask for directions to the Long Island Expressway.

The man said he would show her the way and got into the back of her 2009 Nissan.

The man had her turn onto Ocean Ave.  She says she looked in the rear view mirror and the man exposed himself by pulling down his shorts.

She pulled over and he grabbed her around the neck.  She began to scream and honk the horn.

When a resident was alerted, the man jumped out of the car and ran away.  The woman was not hurt.

Police say the suspect is White, 19-23 years old, 6' tall and 180 pounds.  He was wearing a red shirt and a red baseball hat.

Detectives request anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. They say that all callers will remain anonymous.
