2 men fall to their deaths in skydiving incident

PLATTEKILL, N.Y. -

A Manhattan real-estate executive and his Brooklyn sky-diving instructor plunged to their deaths during a jump in upstate New York.

The pair were jumping with a tandem parachute that did not open.  The local police chief says that it appears that the instructor had some sort of medical condition.  It appears that instructor Alexander Chulsky became incapacitated and was unable to open the parachute correctly.

David Winoker, president of Winoker Realty, was killed Friday when he jumped as part of a friend's 50th birthday party held at Skydive The Ranch in Gardiner, N.Y.

The FAA is now probing the fatal jump, which took place in nearby Plattekill.

Winoker, 49, who lived in Chappaqua, took over his real-estate company from his father, Sid Winoker, who founded the business 30 years ago.

His funeral was held Sunday instead of a planned Father's Day celebration.

Winoker's grieving wife Jillian told mourners at Temple Shaaray Tefila that she had talked him into taking the jump.

Along with his wife, Winoker left behind his children Jared, Hillary, and Allyson.
