Man arrested for fatally stabbing stepfather

Police say a 28-year-old man was arrested for fatally stabbing his stepfather on Long Island Saturday morning. 

Suffolk County police arrested Matthew Hubrins for stabbing 44-year-old Noel Mohammed at his home on Spring Road in Huntington. Authorities found Mohammed with stab wound to his chest. EMS took Mohammed to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Newsday reports that Mohammed worked as a mail carrier since 1994 and his neighbors said he was a friendly and familiar sight in the neighborhood. 

Hubrins was charged with Murder 2nd Degree and he is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 17.
