Prostate cancer strikes one family not once, but many times. Now they're speaking out, raising awareness while celebrating survival.
The Navarro family shares a lot of laughs, but the five brothers also share a unique bond. It started with their dad.
"My father was 59 when he died and he had prostate cancer," said Roy Navarro.
Even as a young man, Roy knew his father's death was a warning, but years later at the age of 45, it took his wife pushing him to get his PSA, the blood test that screens for prostate cancer. The test came back positive.
"The first reaction was I'm going to die from this."
Roy survived after having his prostate removed, but for the man who dedicated his life to teaching, this became a teaching moment. His brother Joe then got tested.
"What I did was establish a baseline and every year I would have it done, and then all at once, finally at one point it jumped and it wasn't into a bad range, but the fact that it had jumped was something that they then said let's go do biopsies, and the biopsy showed cancer."
As a matter of fact, in the past 15 years all five brothers have been treated for prostate cancer. As they go through genetic testing, the concern is now for the next generation, like Roy's 27-year-old son.
"Make sure that we talk to him. He knows. He's very aware, and when he gets to be around the age of 30, he needs to go and have the PSA done," Roy Navarro said.

Making healthy choices at the grocery store can be difficult. With deceiving labels, and buzz words like 'organic,' 'all-natural' and 'heart-healthy,' it's tough to decide what to buy.
