NYPD adds hotline to report prep school sex abuse

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (AP) -

The Police Department has established a hotline to report suspected sexual abuse at a prestigious New York City prep school.

The NYPD wants information about possible inappropriate behavior by staff at the Horace Mann School. Police say it doesn't matter how long ago the alleged incident occurred. The hotline number is 646-610-7272.

The Bronx district attorney also has a hotline.

A New York Times Magazine article last week said the elite school was plagued in the 1980s and early 1990s by a series of teachers who sexually abused students.

Horace Mann's current administrators called the allegations "highly disturbing and absolutely abhorrent." They said the school has terminated teachers for inappropriate conduct, including people named in the article.
