Sarah Jessica Parker beautifies home ahead of Obama fundraiser

NEW YORK -
Sarah Jessica Parker had the hired help primping and preening around her New York City town house, getting it ready for her big bash Thursday for President Barack Obama.
The "Sex and the City" star's Manhattan home has been a beehive of activity all week, as Parker's maids and gofers gussied up the place for the star-studded fundraiser on behalf of Obama's re-election campaign.
Laborers were toting in rolled-up rugs Wednesday, after previously hauling in stacks of chairs, bouquets of flowers and a piano for the reception, which was organized with the assistance of Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
High rollers from the movie and fashion worlds have paid $80,000 per couple to rub elbows with the president and First Lady Michelle Obama at the event -- but a lucky sweepstakes winner who contributed at least $3 online to Obama also will join the hobnobbing.
The town house that Parker owns with her movie star husband, Matthew Broderick, was not the only New York locale abuzz about Thursday's visit by the first couple.
After the reception at SJP's home, the Obamas will trot over to a fundraising dinner at The Plaza hotel. The entertainment includes a performance by singer Mariah Carey.
The event, however, will be a little awkward for Obama because it is being cohosted by Newark Mayor Corey Booker -- who is on the outs with the president and his campaign team.
The New York Post reported last week that an Obama administration official said Booker was "dead to us" after the mayor went off-message on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Booker told a national audience on the talk show that Obama's attacks on GOP rival Mitt Romney's career at private-equity firm Bain Capital were "nauseating" and made him "very uncomfortable."
