A warning if you're hitting the beach this summer -- rip currents could be a problem. Rip currents can carry away even strong swimmers, so don't take chances when red flags are up and/or life guards aren't on duty.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -

Swimmers are advised there is a high risk for rip currents along the New Jersey shore Thursday.

The National Weather Service says wave heights of 4 to 7 feet along with the wind pose a hazard.

A 17-year-old in Long Branch and a 10-year-old in Atlantic City were recently swept to their deaths by rip currents.

Swimmers should only go into the ocean when lifeguards are on duty.
