Wanted by Yonkers police for first degree murder, assault and robbery, Ronell Jones had been on the run for nearly two years until Chicago cops took him into custody Sunday night.

In 2010 three men burst into an apartment at Cromwell Towers in Yonkers looking to rob cash from alleged gang members.

Two young men were shot to death and four other people wounded including a 5-year-old boy.

Two of the killers were caught and convicted of first-degree murder, but the alleged third killer, Ronnel Jones, was not found. Police say he sometimes dressed as a woman and had ties from Yonkers to Florida.

Chicago gang suppression officers arrested Jones during a traffic stop in a car with other young men. Chicago police say Jones had a loaded gun on him and gave a fake name at first. He finally admitted who he really was, and Chicago cops contacted Yonkers after running his name.

Yonkers police say they confirmed Jones's identity by fingerprints and then let the victims' families know they had gotten him.
