Almost everyone we showed a certain umbrella to said the same thing: that it looks like a samurai sword.
In fact, the umbrella is meant to look like a samurai sword. That's the design.
However, it is causing some safety concerns around the country. Some people in Rochester, N.Y., mistook it for a gun.
Bill Stanton, a security expert, said an umbrella that looks like a weapon could put people in danger because cops might mistake it for the real thing.
A website that sells the umbrellas even has a warning for customers to "use reasonable care to ensure you are in an appropriate setting when you carry this umbrella."
Fox 5 contacted the manufacturer which said: "While the umbrellas have a unique handle design, we feel the soft lumpiness of the fabric on the body of the umbrella tones down any notion that they are anything other than an umbrella."
One woman we spoke with agrees and said she knew it was an umbrella when she saw it.
