FDNY divers pulled a teen from the waters off Far Rockaway, Queens, Tuesday afternoon. The victim was transported to St. John's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Akeem Craig, 14, of Queens, was swimming with a friend, also 14, when they began struggling in the ocean near Seagirt Blvd. and Beach 19th St. Tuesday afternoon, the AP reported.

The friend made it out safely, said FDNY officials.

First reponders found Craig in about 40 minutes.

They had been swimming in an area without lifeguards.

Four divers aided by Nassau County units were called to the scene.
