Soldier and Holocaust survivor reunite

MYFOXNY.COM -

Rick Carrier and Irving Roth's bond is unshakable. They reunited in New York this week to remember their link to the tragedy of the Holocaust: Carrier is a concentration camp survivor and Roth was a soldier who helped save him.

Carrier liberated the Buchenwald camp on April 11, 1945, when he clipped a hole in the fence and eventually freed the prisoners, saving thousands of lives.

Roth and Carrier don't know if their paths crossed at Buchenwald that day, but they did cross at the March of the Living in Poland, a Holocaust memorial march from Auschwitz to Birkenau, this past spring.

Roth and Carrier say they will never forget that day, or each other. They say they have an eternal bond and plan on reuniting in Poland for next year's March of the Living.
