East Orange, N.J. (AP) -

Authorities are trying to determine what caused a fire in a northern New Jersey high-rise apartment building that claimed the lives of an adult and a child.

The three-alarm blaze began on the 7th floor of the 10-story building at 50 South Munn Avenue in East Orange at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

City officials say the adult was found dead on the 7th floor. Firefighters rescued the child, who died at a hospital. Officials have not released their names because they're notifying relatives.

Two others were injured.

The fire was brought under control by 10 p.m.
