Bob Sirott's one more thing about the Moog synthesizer

Posted: Updated:

One more thing, about what Google did on Wednesday.  Did you search for anything?   If you did you saw a unique tribute to the inventor of the Moog synthesizer. The late Robert Moog would have been 78 today.

Not only was it a picture of Moog's invention, but you could actually play it, record your tune, and play it back on a four track.

There are nineteen fully functioning knobs in Google's birthday tribute to Robert Moog, the man who made electronic music possible.

It took four months for Google's Chief Doodler Ryan Germick and his team to perfect that.  He said he did it "to pay tribute to someone who was like a patron saint of the nerdy arts" -- something they appreciate at Google.

Moog's son Matt, who lives in Chicago, said this is a cool day for the family.
