Taylor firefighters say recent layoffs in the department pose safety risks to the public.

FOX 2's Roop Raj reports several dozen firefighters and supporters took the streets outside city hall Tuesday to protest the recent layoffs of 18 of their colleagues.

Taylor Mayor Jeffrey Lamarand tells Raj that the cuts were necessary to bridge a growing budget deficit and achieve sustainability for years to come.
