Police said a triple murder at a Brooklyn Park daycare was not random and that public was not at risk, but it can be hard a fact to accept when no one is arrested for weeks.
Police say they had no choice but to leave everyone, including family members, in the dark while investigators built their case.
"It's all about the integrity of the investigation -- not compromising the investigation," Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Todd Milburn said. "What really counts is the conviction at the end of the day, and that's what we're focused on here. So that's what's most important when we talk about these things.
As it turns out, 34-year-old Eddie Mosley, the man now charged with killing three people, had been in custody in St. Louis since four days after the horrific crime.
But unlike police dramas on TV, real life crimes don't get solved in an hour. Investigators say cell phone records, for example, can take weeks to get.
Last fall, Mosley was accused of raping a 15-year-old relative and prosecutors believe he drove back to Minnesota intent on killing her so she couldn't testify against him. What Mosley did not know was that the girl no longer stopped at DeLois Brown's daycare before school.
"Unfortunately her parents where there" neighbor Connie Anderson said. "And I suppose to shut them up, but what did it get them? He got caught anyway.
At Tuesday night's meeting, several dozen residents applauded police for their work after being updated on the details of the case.
There are still many facts investigators couldn't discuss, but most say they were just curious about the process and relieved that someone is finally behind bars.
