Atlanta Weather Forecast - Thursday

Updated:
PLEASANT AND COOL TODAY

Cool east winds will hold temperatures about 10 degrees below average today.  Even so, with the mid-April sun, it should feel pretty pleasant for the afternoon as temperatures climb in to the low 60s.

Clouds will get thick and low across north Georgia tonight as the area is sandwiched in between a cold front approaching from the west and an area of low pressure developing in Gulf that will lift across south Georgia tomorrow.  Overcast skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 40s are expected overnight - with rain holding off until after the morning rush hour for metro Atlanta Friday.

CLOUDY, SOGGY FRIDAY

A shield of light, steady rain will advance into north Georgia from the southwest in the morning.  This will put west central Georgia in line to get some of the first rain showers around sunrise.  It may not be until 10am or later that metro Atlanta is getting light rain.  From there, occasional showers will be in place throughout the day and much of the evening.  Given the track of the low pressure, the highest rainfall amount of 1"+ will be near and southeast of Atlanta.  Northwest Georgia will experience lower amounts of 1/4" or less.

PLEASANT, WARMER EASTER WEEKEND

Clouds and showers may linger into early Saturday morning, but as the low pressure pulls away, skies will clear.  Most of the Saturday will feature mostly sunny skies - allowing temperatures to warm to near-average levels in the mid 70s.  Easter Sunday looks very pleasant and tranquil with temperatures in the 50s at sunrise (7:01am) and highs in the mid 70s for the afternoon.
