Nassau County Police say they have made an arrest in a robbery and brutal attack on a man in a McDonald's parking lot.
Police say the victim, a 47-year-old man, was talking on his phone at about 10:35 p.m. on Thursday when he was attacked.
According to police, Christopher Cruz, 22, walked up to the victim and punched him in the head. The victim dropped his cane and police say Cruz picked it up and beat him in the head upper torso and left forearm.
The victim was transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. He injuries were not life-threatening.
Police found Cruz a short time later and arrested him. Cruz is charged with robbery, assault and weapons charges.
He was expected to be arraigned in Hempstead on Friday.
