A dog who can open the fridge, fetch a can of beer and win her owner a car? Now that's man's best friend.
Bes, a Labrador, has rightly earned herself the title of Australia's Most Talented Pet, beating more than 630 entrants in a national competition.
As soon as owner Lee Marriott settles on the couch after a hard day at work, Bes trundles out to the kitchen to open the refrigerator and grab her master a can, the Herald Sun reported.
"It took me all of 30 minutes to teach her to do that, and even less to teach her to grab the TV remote," Marriott said.
"I first taught Bes how to pick up the can or bottle, then showed her where it was in the fridge and asked her to fetch. It was that simple."
The six-year-old pet's trick won her master a new car in the inaugural PETstock Pet Tricks competition.
Bes is pregnant with her second litter and Marriott is confident her pups will be greatly in demand.
"The father of the pups is just as clever so the litter is going to be promising," he said.
As for himself, by day Marriott is a building supervisor. But would he ever ditch his day job to train other dogs to do the same thing?
"If the money was good enough!" he told news.com.au.
