Phoenix Man Arrested for Abusing Infant Son

Posted:

A 29-year-old Phoenix man has been arrested after admitting to shaking his infant son.

Taylor Jose Basilio is facing one count of child abuse.

Basilio’s 7-week-old son was hospitalized earlier this month after tests showed he was grossly underweight and had suffered numerous injuries including rib fractures, a broken clavicle, and two skull fractures.

Through a sign language interpreter, Basilio admitted he had a “really bad anger problem” and said, “I have done stupid things lately.”

Basilio allegedly said he has shaken the baby on three different occasions and has pulled on his arms, out of frustration. He was taken into custody on Dec. 10.

He said he was the only one to blame, not his wife. But Tuesday, police re-interviewed 24-year-old Candace Basilio and she made admissions to also harming the baby. She was then booked into jail for child abuse.

Taylor Basilio has prior arrests for assault-domestic violence.
