Police claim that a five-year-old girl from Nutley, New Jersey suffered burns after her mother let her use a stand-up tanning booth.

Officers were called to the girl's school on April 24 because she was allegedly in extreme pain from the burns.

Patricia Krentcil says that her daughter was sunburned from being outside, not from a tanning salon.

On Wednesday, Krentcil told Fox 5 News that the girl was at the salon but did not enter the tanning booth.

The owner of the salon also adamantly denies the girl was in the tanning booth.

Krentcil, 44, is charged with child endangerment.  She pleaded not guilty on Wednesday at the Essex County Courthouse.

The very tan Nutley resident admits that she tans too much but says she would next put her daughter in danger.

She is scheduled to go on trial on June 4, 2012.

Krentcil had previously posted $25,000 bond in Camden County where she had an outstanding warrant on a municipal charge, the AP reported.
