CPS School Bans Bag Lunches Brought from Home

An effort to get kids to eat better has led one Chicago Public School to ban bag lunches.

Little Village Academy has decided to not allow students to bring lunches from home, according to the Chicago Tribune .

Principal Elsa Carmona said she created the policy six years ago to protect kids from unhealthy food choices.

She said it's better for them to eat a nutritional school lunch.

Exceptions are made for children with allergies or a medical issue.

The Tribune reports many of the students don’t like the lunches provided and a lot of food ends up in the trash.
