Ask Dr. Oz: Post Op #16

Posted:

Audience member Ronda asks Dr. Oz what she can do to remedy the severe cramps in her feet at night.

Dr. Oz explains, that when your cells do not have enough calcium and magnesium, they can react adversely, often with cramps or spasms, and especially when trauma is inflicted. Simple day-to-day pressure from walking can cause this trauma.

Dr. Oz recommends that Ronda take calcium and magnesium supplements, and that she also soaks her feet in Epsom salt (which is magnesium rich) before going to bed.

Amanda, who is 23 years of age, informs Dr. Oz that her doctors recommend that she take multi-vitamins daily.

Amanda claims that she has trouble finding the motivation to take so many, and she asks Dr. Oz which vitamins she should take, and when.

Dr. Oz insists on most people taking vitamins A,B,C,D,E, extra vitamin D with calcium magnesium, and Omega 3’s. Dr. Oz informs Amanda that this can be done with 3 pills daily, and at a relatively low-cost.

Joan tells Dr. Oz that she has heard that oil of oregano is good for toenail fungus. She asks Dr. Oz how to apply it, and if so, how often she should apply it.

Dr. Oz responds by confirming that oil of oregano helps with bacterial infections, but not with fungus.

If an infection occurs, one can mix the oil with a liquid solvent (often used by aroma therapists) and apply it to the affected toenail with a gauze or cloth.
