A Melrose Park man disappeared nearly a decade ago after being charged with sexual assault.

Fifty year old Heliodoro Salcido has been on the run for nine years now. Cook County prosecutors charged him back in June of 2002 with sexually assaulting a 16-year old girl in his Melrose Park apartment; he hasn't been seen since.

Agents say Salcido sexually assaulted a young girl after pretending to be a doctor. The girl had been complaining of back pain, and her parents brought her to Salcido for treatment. Investigators say the assult took place in Salcido's apartment when the girl visited the alleged doctor for a second time. His apartment was located in the 1500 block of 32nd Avenue.

Police arrested Salcido on June 16, 2002 and prosecutors charged him with sexual assault. After being released on bond, Salcido became a fugitive when he missed his court appearance in July.

He is the subject of an international man hunt targeting his native Mexico or in Texas where he has relatives. Agents also say its possible Salcido as returned to the Chicago area.

Salcido is a Hispanic male, 5'8", 185 pounds, with dark hair and dark eyes.

If you have any information about this case or Salcido's whereabouts, please contact the FBI at (312) 241-6700).

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
