Chicago's Most Wanted Swine Flu Bandit

Posted:

Another serial bank robber is making his way through the Windy City. You'll probably never guess what nickname the FBI has given him.

Before they knew he was about to rob them, agents say bank employees asked this man why he was wearing a surgical mask. Investigators say this bandit told the bank tellers that he either had or was just recovering from the swine flu.

Just like the flu itself, the Swine Flu Bandit is striking fast and hard. Investigators believe he's responsible for five Chicago area bank robberies in just two weeks. On some days, agents say the Swine Flu Bandit robbed two banks. When a bandit operates at that pace, investigators believe he may have some type of substance abuse problem and is working quickly to support his addiction. They also say the Swine Flu Bandit is becoming increasingly dangerous. During his last bank robbery, agents say this bandit forced some bank employees to clean out the vault while he held others at gunpoint.

FBI agents believe the Swine Flu Bandit is responsible for robbing the following banks:

9/2/10 robbery of the Chase bank branch at 1204 East 53rd street, Chicago,
9/8/10, the Charter One Bank Branch, 2131 S. China place, Chicago
9/8/10, the Chase Bank Branch at 545 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana
9/18/10, Washington Federal Savings, 2869 South Archer, Chicago
9/18/10, Chase Bank Branch, 1130 South Canal, Chicago

The Swine Flu Bandit is described as a white male, about 25 years old, around five feet seven inches tall, with a thin build and wearing a pinstriped, black ball cap, dark wraparound sunglasses, a gray hoodie sweatshirt and surgical mask to hide his face.

He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
