Ask Dr. Oz Season 2: Post Op #23

Posted:

Audience member Keisha tells Dr. Oz that she knows someone that was pre-diabetic who was given daily shots by a Dr. as appetite suppressants. Keisha asks Dr. Oz if that regimen would be prescribed just to someone that’s pre-diabetic.

Dr. Oz states the reasons Dr.’s consider using drugs or surgery for people who have extra weight is because they have morbid obesity (the condition of possible death because of obesity). Dr. Oz further purports steps like this are taken when it’s determined that these people can’t lose weight on their own, but it is most important to change one’s lifestyle to accomplish the end results of losing weight and keeping it off.

Audience member Karen had a car accident over a year ago and still experiences neck pain. Karen has tried a number of therapies, but she asks Dr. Oz if there is anything new that he can recommend.

Dr. Oz asks Karen if her neck was herniated, to which she replied that it was. Dr. Oz explains what happens to the neck when muscles aren’t ready for such an impact, and he exemplifies the importance of exercising to enhance support to the neck.

Dr. Oz encourages Karen to look outside of western medicine (acupuncture etc.) for help if it hasn’t helped her.
