One more thing about digital hoarding.

What used to pile up around the house were newspapers, magazines, books, and tapes. But now the clutter is digitized. It doesn't take up as much space, and it may not look like you need help, but your computer's memory may be in better shape than yours.

Nowhere is the problem more obvious than on your TiVo list. 43 percent of U.S households now have DVRs. And I bet most are like mine: filled with shows you'll never watch. It's just too easy to record and save, and so we do. Eventually though, even a digital file runs out of room. But deleting programs you've been saving forever is admitting defeat. It makes me feel like an executioner deciding who will live and who will die.

Mondays are the worst because networks take advantage of Sunday being the biggest night for TV viewing by scheduling their best. One TV critic said it's when you stock up your DVR for the week; the Costco of television nights.

The way most of us watch TV has changed dramatically very quickly, which is why it's hard not to reach for the "fast forward" button during shows you actually watch in real time. I wonder if I still have my VHS of the final episode of Miami Vice. Who got killed in that one, Crockett or Tubbs?
