Barrington school bus driver investigated for possible 'inappropriate contact' with student

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Authorities in northwest suburban Barrington are investigating an allegation of inappropriate conduct by a school bus driver towards at least one student.

Barbara B. Rose Elementary School Principal Scott Carlson issued a letter to parents on Wednesday informing them of a report of possible inappropriate behavior by a Barrington Transportation Company driver.

Barrington 220 School District spokesman Jeff Arnett said the incident apparently happened in the past two weeks, but wasn't brought to the school's attention until Monday.

Police are investigating if there is more than one victim, Arnett said. The driver has not been arrested as of Wednesday evening, the letter said.

The Barrington Transportation Company, which is the only bus company serving the district's public schools, removed the driver from all routes and a substitute driver has taken over.
