John Lennon was killed on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on December 8, 1980.
Radio host Dennis Elsas, who once interviewed Lennon, and former TV producer Alan Weiss, who was in the hospital emergency room the same night Lennon was shot, visited Good Day to talk about that fateful day.
Dennis Elsas is a New York radio legend and current host on SiriusXM and 90.7 WFUV. Dennis met John Lennon at the Record Plant recording studio in 1974. John popped into Dennis's radio station on September 28, 1974, and stayed on air with him for hours. Dennis was a few blocks away from the Dakota when he heard of John's death.
Dennis's interview is featured prominently in "LennoNYC," currently airing on PBS's American Masters Series.
Dennis is on SiriusXM every morning WFUV every afternoon.
Alan Weiss, a former TV producer with Channel 7, happened to be a patient at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital when Lennon was brought in after being shot.
Alan's role in helping to break the story of Lennon's death earned him an Emmy.
