Family, friends, and fellow service members paid tribute Wednesday to a Marine from Brooklyn who was killed in Afghanistan.
A funeral was held for Sgt. Nicholas J. Aleman, 24, at St. Anthony Padua in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Aleman died Dec. 5 in an early-morning ambush. He had been in Afghanistan for only two months.
He joined the Marines right after graduating from Midwood High School.
Relatives said Aleman came from a military family and had always wanted to be a Marine.
