A soldier from New Jersey has died in an insurgent attack in Iraq, the Pentagon reported.
Spc. Jamal M. Rhett, 24, of Palmyra, died Aug. 15 in Ba Qubah after insurgents ambushed his vehicle with grenades, the Defense Department said.
Rhett was a combat medic who wanted to eventually go to medical school, according to a report . He was originally from Philadelphia whose family moved to New Jersey when he was 11.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
