Three camp counselors for the disabled were killed and two were seriously injured in a crash Thursday morning on the Meadowbrook Parkway in Merrick, according to officials.
The one-car crash happened at about 8:45 a.m. on the southbound lanes.
State Police say the victims were in their 20s. They were on their way to Camp Anchor in Hempstead, said Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray.
Metro traffic reports that the southbound Meadowbrook Parkway was closed between Exit M6/Southern State Parkway and Exit M7/Babylon Turnpike for several hours.
