Beware Unexpected Game App Charges

Posted:

A warning for parents: beware of children's game apps on iTunes that claim to be free. You could end up with a bill for hundreds of dollars.

Arnold Diaz explains: What many people don't know is that after you enter your iTunes account password to download a free game app, your account stays open for 15 minutes on many iPads, iPods, and iPhones. During that time, children can make in-app purchases without having to re-enter your password.

Apple has refunded the money to many parents who have complained about the unexpected charges. But to be safe, you should download the Apple iOS 4.3 software update, use the parental controls available, and don't give your child your password.
