Credit Report SOS

Posted:

We all know how important our credit reports and credit scores can be when applying for loans and credit cards. So of course consumers are interested in free access to those reports. But watch out for the strings attached.

Congress passed a law in 2003 giving consumers the right to receive a free report from each of the major credit reporting companies every 12 months. All you have to do is go to AnnualCreditReport.com. But that report does not show your credit score.

To get your score free, you'd have to sign up for one of the credit-monitoring service free trials and make sure you cancel before the trial ends.

AnnualCreditReport.com is the only place to get the free credit score that IS yours by law. If you would like to get more information go to the Federal Trade Commission's website.
